Apprenticeship Opportunities
The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee of IBEW Local 102 takes applications for the apprenticeship program on a year-round basis. The cycle for each recruitment year starts in March and ends in February. There is a $50.00 non-refundable application processing fee due at time of application.
Applications must be submitted online at ibew102.org. The application portal will be open April 10th & April 11th. Future dates will be posted soon. Once you have established your portal you will have access to your application so that you may complete the process at a later time.

There is a mandatory aptitude test given to every applicant for the inside wireman program provided the applicant meets the criteria listed below. The test is tentatively scheduled for April.
A passing grade is needed to qualify for an interview (Test only applies to the Inside Wireman program NOT the Telecommunications program they qualify straight to interview). There is mandatory drug testing prior to acceptance.
Before applying please ensure that you fulfill the following prerequisites needed to qualify for the aptitude test:
* Valid driver’s license
* 17 years of age for test, 18 years of age before date of indenture (on or around June 1st)
* Copy of High School diploma or GED
* One complete year passing grade Algebra 1
* High School Transcript
* Copy of Birth Certificate

The following are answers to frequently asked questions:
Starting pay for 1ST year apprentice in the Inside Wireman program is $25.35 (40% of JW rate).
Upgrades for Inside Wireman are based on the successful completion of each year of study plus the required hours per year of on-the-job training.
Starting pay for 1st & 2nd step in the Telecommunications program is $18.38 (35% of JWT rate)
Upgrades for Telecommunications are based on the successful completion of each step of study plus the required hours of on-the-job training.
There is no cost for training with the exception of course materials.
Related classroom training - 1 day (8 hours) per week, every other week, for 23 weeks. During those weeks you work the remaining 32 hours per week.
There is no guarantee of work. Work is subject to economy, weather, etc.
When layoffs occur, all members return to the hall to sign a job referral book, and their names are placed on an out of work list in chronological order for job placement.
Overtime is based on job-site conditions and contractor obligations.
Fringe Benefits start after the first 300 hours worked:

Inside Wireman apprentices are required to work in our Collective Bargaining Agreement jurisdiction as listed below:
In the State of New Jersey, the counties of: Passaic, Sussex, Morris, Union, Warren, Hunterdon, Somerset and parts of Bergen.
In the State of Pennsylvania, the Eastern part of counties of: Pike, Northampton, Bucks, and Monroe.
Telecommunication apprentices are required to work in all counties in New Jersey
