On May 2, 2008 Govenor Corzine signed Assembly Bill No. 873 putting into place the new Family Leave Insurance for the State of New Jersey. This program will provide up to six (6) weeks of Family Leave Insurance Benefits for the care of a family member suffering form a serious health condition, or the care of a newly born child or newly adopted child. Benefits thru this program will be available as of  July 1, 2009.

Starting January 1, 2009 there will be a new deduction being witheld from your gross pay each week to fund the new Family Leave Insurance program, calculated at 0.09% of your gross wage for 2009, 0.12% for 2010. This deduction will show under the Unemployment / Workforce section of your pay stub.
